The Silent Valley is a Mountain Park situated in the high Mournes in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty features a dam ringed by dramatic Mountain panoramas and the famous Mourne wall located in the U-shaped valley of the Kilkeel river.

The mountains of Mourne are one of the most picturesque mountain areas in Ireland.

There are 12 peaks over 2000 feet high, including Northern Ireland’s highest mountain, Slieve Donard. Uniquely for a mountain range, most of the summits are grouped together in an area only seven miles broad. Both the Mournes northern boundary at Newcastle and southern at Rostrevor are distinguished by steep slopes which dominate the coast.

The harbour consists of two independent piers running north westwards out to sea; parallel nearer the shore, they converge at the outer ends to form a harbour mouth 150 feet (46 m) wide.
