Downpatrick First Presbyterian Non-Subscribing Church

Places to See | Co. Down, Northern Ireland.

One of Downpatrick’s architectural gems.

A large T shaped meeting-house opened in 1711 with four galleries including one so called ‘Squires Gallery’ and one gallery approached from an external staircase. This example of the churches and monasteries in Northern Ireland has a High central pulpit built for the Rev Thomas Nevin in 1711 and is an interesting place to visit in Co Down.

The interior of the church is still 18th century, with box pews and a wooden octagonal pulpit set on a high pedestal.

Address: Downpatrick First Presbyterian Non-Subscribing Church, Stream Street, Demesne of Down Acre, Downpatrick, BT30
