Museum at The Mill

Places to See | Co. Antrim, Northern Ireland.

Museum at The Mill invites visitors of all ages to explore the history and learn about the heritage of Mossley Mill, a flax spinning mill in County Antrim which dates back to the early 1800s.

A range of events and workshops are held in the museum for both adults and children.

A historical site in Northern Ireland, the museum is housed within what was originally the wet spinning floor. It tells the story of Mossley Mill and the people who worked there from the 1800s through to the mill closure in 1995. The history is presented through a range of interpretative displays including artefacts, images and archival film.

The Museum at The Mill houses the Flax Gallery, a contemporary exhibition space which hosts a range of exhibitions throughout the year.

The Museum at The Mill also features the outstanding development of the mill site in recent years as council headquarters and cultural centre. The original mill buildings have been sensitively conserved and the interiors adapted for modern day use whilst the mill dam is now an important habitat for a whole range of wildlife. All in all an interesting place to visit in Co Antrim.
