Ardglass is a beautiful fishing village which overlooks the Irish Sea and the village has been a fishing port for over two thousand years. Ardglass Castle, once the home of the Fitzgeralds, Earls of Kildare, is the clubhouse of the Ardglass Golf Club.

Ardglass Golf Course is an 18 hole cliff-top links course with stunning views over the Irish Sea and excellent and unique golf holes. If you have not been lucky enough to have played Ardglass then you don’t know what you’re missing! How many of the golfers who flock every year to the links of Royal County Down are aware that there is another magnificent Irish golfing experience to be had just a few miles along the south east coast of Down in the fishing port of Ardglass? The course won an award in 2011 as the best links course in Ireland.

Ardglass Golf Course is a true test of golf, particularly on a windy day. The course hugs the coastline, with no fewer than 8holes where the Irish Sea coastline comes into play. The view from the elevated 12th tee, with the backdrop of the Irish Sea and Mourne Mountains is to die for. The Irish Sea is visible from all 18 tees and greens and on a clear day it is possible to see across the Irish Sea to the Isle of Man.

Ardglass Golf Club in County Down, Northern Ireland may not be on most golf-trip agendas, but if you’re staying in Belfast or County Down it’s as unique a golf course as you’ll find anywhere in Ireland. A hidden gem in high season.

Now then courses – I think the best parkland would be Belvoir Park and the links would be Ardglass.
