Talbot Hotel Wexford

Places to Stay | Co. Wexford, Ireland

The Talbot Hotel Wexford is centrally located in the heart of Wexford town.

Overlooking the marina in Wexford town, the 4 star Talbot Hotel Wexford dates back to 1905. A magnificent restaurant, unique bar, conference centre, leisure centre and pool are all there for you to enjoy.

If you are seeking great accommodation in Wexford, the Talbot Hotel makes for a great choice. Upgrading to a Sea-View Room will allow you to enjoy wonderful panoramic views of Wexford Quay and the Stunning River Slaney.

We loved the décor and space within The Ballast Bank Bar. Based on an old bonded warehouse, The Ballast Bank Bar & Grill provides a relaxed, friendly atmosphere in which to savour your favourite tipple and enjoy some great live entertainment. An extensive bar food menu is available throughout the day, with something to suit every palate and appetite

The Ballast Bank is a rather curious man-made island in Wexford Harbour opposite the Talbot Hotel.  It was erected to provide a place for loading and unloading ballast, which was essential to stabilise ships sailing without cargo.  Both the Talbot Hotel and the Ballast Bank were constructed in 1905 and so it seems fitting to name one of Wexford’s landmark bars after one of Wexford’s most famous landmarks.

The Quay Leisure Centre in the Talbot Wexford (originally built as a grain mill) will help you work off the tensions of a busy day.

  1. Hello,

Our family stayed in Wexford in 2000 for a Whitty family reunion. I am sure we stayed at the Talbot, but I recall it being a brick building across the street from where the Talbot is now.

Did the hotel used to be in the 6 (?) story building ? Is The current Talbot replacing the old location, (if indeed there is an old location).

In any event, it was a marvelous hotel, excellent service, delicious food and nothing by fun with fine folks.

We are planning a return soon and would love to stay at your hotel again

    Many Thanks
