Ryans of Parkgate St.

Places to Eat & Drink | Dublin, Ireland.

An establishment of outstanding heritage, character and distinction, Ryan’s is one of Dublin’s oldest authentic Victorian pubs, dating back to 1896, it has seen many famous people pass through its doors over the years. President Clinton, Julia Roberts and Niall Quinn have all paid a visit to Ryan’s and stayed for a drink or two!

To experience some Victorian era privacy, this place to drink in Dublin has four “snugs.” These enclosed oak-paneled boxes were originally used by female clientele, back when proper ladies were not supposed to be seen frequenting pubs. Access to the snugs is controlled by the barman, who releases a latch on the bar side of the snug’s door. Customers have to ring a bell to get a drink or to leave the snug.

  1. To the folks at Ryans, I want to thank you all for making my visit to Dublin, as you folks say, Perfect. I ate and drank there a few times back in January with my Friend. We are Tom and Doug/Douglas. We had the great pleasure OF eating the wonderful food and drinks. As for the staff, Coln and Mark thanks for helping me with the Gaelic. I used it in Killarney. Just know that every one there at Ryans, you all were just Grand. I know this is a bit late, but I feel better letting you all know that you are just PERFECT!!
